Volunteer
Deep Root Center hosts many volunteers throughout the academic year who share their interests with our student members by mentoring our youth, becoming reading buddies, facilitating classes and discussions, assisting with hands-on projects, and helping with behind the scenes essentials. By donating their time and knowledge, volunteers greatly benefit our members and staff, helping us realize our principles of community-based education.

Volunteering at Deep Root Center in the Age of COVID-19
Beginning November 16th, Deep Root Center's in-person programming is on hiatus due to the COVID pandemic. Our membership programs are currently fully remote. All of our volunteers are engaging with our students virtually via the Deep Root Center Server on the Discord App. The volunteer application includes questions asking you what specific talents and interests you would like to share with our students. It also asks for your Discord user name, so we can send you an invitation to join the DRC server. Deep Root Center staff will review your application and contact you via email to confirm the days and times you are available, the classes/activities/discussions you will facilitate, and the student(s) you will be paired with. We will also confirm your Discord User name and have you test it out to make sure it works. A DRC staff person will sit in on the first conversation when you meet the student(s) to help facilitate the conversation. After that you will meet with them based on a predetermined schedule. Thank you for considering sharing your talents with the DRC community. |
