A Message from Maria
As we close out yet another calendar year, I am taking time to review the past twelve months. We now have two fully operational (and settled) Centers, forty-six student members, and an additional twenty-five homeschool consultees. I can only marvel at how far Deep Root Center (DRC) has come and all we have accomplished with the limited resources that have defined our existence from the beginning. With this being said, I am beyond grateful for every contribution, every funded grant request, and every volunteer who has shared their talents and interests with our student members - over the past nine years.
Now, we are poised to take a leap to the next level. But to do that, we need your help. DRC has built a solid reputation for helping any child who needs us - no matter their family's financial circumstances. Our proven flexibility in finding a way through any challenge for our student members and homeschool consultees has solidified this image, as well as recognition that DRC is a safe setting for a diverse group of young people. At DRC, we understand that neurodiversity is an asset - not a hindrance - and we provide a rich environment where kids are free to explore their curiosity and creativity. (We just submitted a grant proposal focusing on our unique setting and methodology that allows for healing through creativity.)

We also honor every child's gender identity (including the use of their preferred name and pronouns), as well as their sexual orientation.
Our dedication to building a welcoming community within our Centers is recognized by case workers from various agencies and school counselors, who regularly recommend our services to kids they understand are not being served by the public school system. They know these children would fall deeper into the abyss of failure without intervention. This is now to the point that I have at least one phone call a day for either homeschool consultation services or kids who want to join one of our Centers. With your financial help we will be able to grow DRC to serve every child who requests our services. This means hiring more staff and exploring the possibility of opening a third Center in St. Lawrence County.
