Distance Learning Program
|
The Distance Learning Program is for students who want to opt-out of public school (including virtual and hybrid classes) to take charge of their education. This program can be as flexible as the student requires, with three membership levels, as well as an a-la-carte menu of additional services. Each of the Distance Learning Membership Levels includes the following services:
- Consultation to develop and write homeschool documentation including an Individual Home Instruction Plan (IHIP), Letter of Intent (LOI), and Quarterly Reports (Nov., Jan., April, & June).
- Consultation to find resources (classes, internships, volunteer opportunities, etc.) based on personal interests and goals.
- Weekly advisory and mentoring sessions with Maria
- Virtual Access to Deep Root Center staff, volunteers, projects and activities (one on one and group), and socializing during our daily hours of operation, five (5) days each week – the number of these opportunities depends on the membership level chosen. (If the Center is closed for safety reasons, it will be a virtual experience for everyone who wishes to participate.)
- Beginning, middle, and end of the year family meetings with Maria
- Invitations to all field trips and special workshops (as possible - given distance and comfort levels
- Participation in Weekly Community Meeting
How it Works:
|
*Additional Support – is by the hour not by the month.
** Family Membership – If there will be more than one child in a family participating, the family can either purchase a membership for each child or the children can share the services. (ex. If the family chooses one full membership – 6 hours of video conferencing each week – the children can divide that time between them to get a total of six hours.) However, they would still each get their mentoring session and would each attend the community meeting.
Refunds: No refunds are made to members who do not attend the number of hours their membership level allows or for those who choose to terminate membership during billing cycles unless a specific arrangement is made with Deep Root Center.
